Zuri Studio
CERAMICS
At Zuri, you’ll find unique, handcrafted ceramics where every piece tells a story. Each creation reflects the artist’s ideas, inspirations, imagination, and techniques. These individual stories are at the heart of each piece, making them one-of-a-kind.
The name of the ceramics studio, “Zuri,” comes from the Swahili word for “beautiful,” “lovely,” or “unique.” The choice of Swahili isn’t random; it reflects the founder’s time spent in Africa, where she lived for over five years, primarily in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The beauty of Africa inspires her as much as the Black Sea and other places she’s called home over the last 15 years, before finally returning to Poland in January 2023.
Her first ceramics studio was established in Varna, Bulgaria. It was there that she molded, fired, and taught others the art of working with clay.
Every collection she creates is inspired by her travels and reflects the essence of the places she has visited.
Ceramic sculptures made by Marta Cylwik under the SOIL brand are a continuation of the disappearing culture of true craftsmanship. SOIL perpetuates naturalness and simplicity in clay. Marta relies on sensitive observation of nature, which ambiguously inspires her to create. An important part of the artist's work is the individual approach to each project. The designer makes all her works by hand without the use of molds, which makes each sculpture unique and inimitable.
Attention to detail is an inherent feature of the brand. The visual side is based on analog photographs, orders are packaged with a name letter to each customer according to zero waste principles and the whole is complemented by playlists with music close to the author's heart.
Along with the brand, Marta strives to replicate the values that are important to her. She regularly supports the Shelter on Paluch, donating 5% of the proceeds from the sale of ceramic doggies.

WORK PROCESS
STEP 1: Material preparation
There are no shortcuts in handicrafts and just as I invest in high-quality materials, I also invest my time in ensuring that my handmade products are of the highest quality. This first stage translates into each subsequent stage, so it is extremely important that the material is properly prepared.
STEP 2: We create!
It would seem that pouring material into a mould is a fairly simple and trivial matter. Well, yes, it is but only superficially. The final appearance of the product is influenced by everything: from the speed of pouring the material, how much of it is poured at one time and to taking care that there are as few air bubbles as possible. The experience of pouring hundreds of kilograms of material allowed me to develop an appropriate method, thanks to which the final appearance of the product will satisfy even the most demanding tastes.
STEP 3: Attention to detail
It is impossible to pour material into a mould and extract an absolutely perfect product from it. The end result is not reached yet. Now it's time to give the product its final appearance, i.e. to smooth out any unevenness. All this makes the product more visually appealing to the eye of the new owner.
STEP 4: Security
In addition to the fact that the product is covered with a special layer, which is designed to protect it against splashes and contamination by touching or dust, a thin layer of cork is also glued to the bottom, which prevents accidental scratching of the surfaces on which it is placed.
